Raw Cookie Dough Ice Cream!
One of my favorite things I’ve made yet. And shockingly simple!
Ice Cream:
5 frozen bananas
Cookie Dough Bites
6 dates
1/4 cup soaked raw almonds
1 tsp coconut oil
1 tbs cacao nibs
pinch cinnamon
pinch himalayan sea salt
Blend frozen bananas together in vitamix or food processor, set aside in freezer. Pit your dates and throw into the blender/food processor. Add almonds, coconut oil, cinnamon, and sea salt. Pulse until incorporated. Add in cacao nibs by hand or pulse them in. Roll into balls and enjoy as is, or put onto your ice cream!

Just a heads up, parents.

Not for me! I don’t think I even knew happiness truly until I heard my little guy’s heartbeat for the first time. If I had to choose between spending time with him forever or having sexy time for the rest of my life, I’d choose him. But, thank God I don’t have to! ;)

When I was about 20 years old, I met an old pastor’s wife who told me that when she was young and had her first child, she didn’t believe in striking children, although spanking kids with a switch pulled from a tree was standard punishment at the time. But one day, when her son was four or five, he did something that she felt warranted a spanking—the first in his life. She told him that he would have to go outside himself and find a switch for her to hit him with.

The boy was gone a long time. And when he came back in, he was crying. He said to her, “Mama, I couldn’t find a switch, but here’s a rock that you can throw at me.”

All of a sudden the mother understood how the situation felt from the child’s point of view: that if my mother wants to hurt me, then it makes no difference what she does it with; she might as well do it with a stone. And the mother took the boy into her lap and they both cried. Then she laid the rock on a shelf in the kitchen to remind herself forever: never violence. And that is something I think everyone should keep in mind. Because when violence begins in the nursery, one can raise children into violence.

Bearing Sons Leaves Male DNA Traces In Mom’s Brain

If you gave birth to a son, you can rightfully join your husband for guy’s night… well, maybe not really. But, a recent study shows that mothers who had boys carry traces of male DNA in their brain, like, forever.

I’ve been thinking about the article that David posted earlier this week. (Burp.) But, I disagree with the science. (Fart.) I don’t think that carrying three boys rubbed off on me at all. (Scratch and adjust.)

If I had my child to raise over again:
I’d build self-esteem first and the house later
I’d finger paint more and point the finger less
I would do less correcting and more connecting
I’d take my eyes off my watch and watch with my eyes
I would care to know less and know to care more
I’d take more hikes and fly more kites
I’d stop playing serious and seriously play
I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars
I’d do more hugging and less tugging
I’d see the oak tree in the acorn more often
I would be firm less often and affirm much more
I’d model less about the love of power
